This rare Taiwanese red tea is grown in the hills surrounding Sun Moon Lake — one of the island’s most historically significant tea regions. The garden, overseen by Master Yang, traces its roots back to the early 20th century, when Japan’s colonial administration introduced the cultivation of high-quality red teas, aiming to establish Taiwan as a world-class producer.
The terroir here is exceptional: rolling elevations between 700–1000 meters, consistent mist, a subtropical climate averaging 24°C, and high year-round humidity. These natural conditions, ideal for large-leaf assamica cultivars, produce tea with rich body, smooth structure, and soft complexity.
The resulting liquor is warm and golden-red, with notes of baked fruit, wood spice, and soft floral sweetness. Deep, round, and lingering — a calm, elegant black tea built on decades of cultivation and craft.
